In response to PAP’s question, the Prime Minister’s Chancellery clarified that it was a meeting with citizens in the form of a rally.
On June 4, 2023, a march was organized by PO and Donald Tusk, a protest against the then government. The meeting was attended by leaders of all major opposition parties. The march was also a way to celebrate the anniversary of the first partially free elections on June 4, 1989. According to the organizers’ statement, it was held “at high prices, theft and lies, for free elections.”

The elections of June 4, 1989 were the result of an agreement reached during the Round Table Talks between the communist authorities and representatives of part of the opposition and the Church.
The turnout in the first round (June 4) was high: about 62%. Their result was a success for Solidarity: 60 percent. voters cast their votes for candidates nominated by the Solidarity Citizens Committee. Of the 161 possible seats in parliament, ‘S’ won 160 seats in the first round, as well as 92 seats out of 100 seats in the Senate. In the second round, the Solidarity Citizens Committee won the last available parliamentary seat; in the Senate elections, “S” won a total of 99 out of 100 seats.
