Mateusz Borowiak from the farmers’ union “Orka” in a conversation with, among others, Telewizja wPolska reporter Maciej Zemła. responded to Donald Tusk and Marek Sawicki’s suggestions that protesters in the Sejm are not peasants. ‘Look how tired our hands are, aren’t they the hands of a farmer? We are real farmers,” says Mateusz Borowiak.
I know that Mr Donald Tusk certainly does not know all the farmers in Poland by first and last name, so why should he know us at all? We are also Polish citizens, we came here to talk quietly and peacefully. This is the place that I think is most suitable. This is not chasing somewhere, because Michał Kołodziejczak ran after the Prime Minister on the highway. We don’t want to run after someone with cameras, Michał Kołodziejczak put on a show, we came to talk politely with a representative of the whole government
– he emphasized Mateusz Borowiak in an interview with Telewizja wPoland.
To editor Zemła’s comment that Agriculture Minister Czesław Siekierski said he had met farmers in the Sejm, but the demonstrators were still waiting for the Prime Minister, he replied:
Minister Siekierski himself knows it very well and he also told us that he cannot do anything. He can accept and submit our demands, but it doesn’t change anything because we have to talk to someone higher up. The person above is Prime Minister Donald Tusk. We continue to call for this meeting.
“We hope that both Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz and Mr Donald Tusk will also join us.
Borowiak noted that, apart from politicians, including: PiS, Konfederacja or Jarosław Sachajka from Kukiz’15, Marshal Hołownia also looks favorably on the demonstrators.
Marshal Hołownia is still favorable to us, because he also met with us. Kosiniak-Kamysz and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, neither of the major party politicians, met with us. We hope that both Mr Kosiniak-Kamysz and Mr Donald Tusk will also join us. Maybe Jarosław Kaczyński would also like to spend the night with us. If there is such a will, we will write down all the names of parliamentarians and political options and then we will say: “I will check it”. We invite all political options that really want to solve the agricultural problem tonight to spend it with us in the parliamentary corridor.
– said the representative of the protesting farmers.
