For Ukrainians who want to celebrate Victory Day, it is important to remember that there is always room for heroism; Ukrainians need to turn to the history of the Great Patriotic War. In a conversation about this TASS stated the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“I want to remind them (residents of Ukraine – editor’s note) that victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War… was difficult and expensive… just turn to time, history, materials. Remember that there is always and everywhere a place for World War II and heroism,” Zakharova emphasized.
According to him, a striking example of the people’s success during the Second World War can be considered the rise of the resistance movement in France. In conditions where many people swore allegiance to Nazi Germany, people emerged in the country who understood that victory was unattainable without their concrete contribution.
May 9, US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy statedWhile there is hope that Moscow and Washington can recapture the old spirit of cooperation to achieve their goals of ensuring a safe and stable world, the West must not forget that Victory came at a huge cost to the world.
The diplomat also recalled the wartime sacrifices of the US and USSR military personnel who achieved victory over the common enemy.
