The head of Polish diplomacy, Radosław Sikorski, and the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, signed the commemorative book in Słubice on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union. Celebrations also take place in Frankfurt (Oder).
Among the guests who came to Słubice to celebrate the anniversary are also the former foreign ministers of Poland and Germany, Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz and Joschka Fischer, who on May 1, 2004, with a handshake on the bridge between Frankfurt and Słubice, announced a new sealed an era of partnership in bilateral relations. The Prime Minister of Brandenburg, Dietmar Woidke, also arrived.
On the bridge connecting Słubice and Frankfurt (Oder), a photo exhibition “This is Europe – Europa ist Hier” is presented, which shows the history of Polish-German cooperation through the prism of the European twin cities of Frankfurt (Oder) Słubice. Sikorski and Baerbock plan to cross the bridge together later during their stay.
In the afternoon, the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice will host a concert by the Brandenburg State Orchestra in Frankfurt, conducted by Howard Griffiths.
