The more he breaks the law, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, the more he threatens, appeals to extreme emotions and “waves his flail” in all directions, threatening to bring this or that before a tribunal – this is how PiS MP Piotr Gliński responded to the announcement of the request for a Court of Justice for the head of the National Broadcasting Council, Maciej Świrski.
During today’s press conference, Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz was asked whether he could influence the National Broadcasting Council to transfer money from the license fee to public television and radio. Sienkiewicz responded that the head of the National Broadcasting Council, Maciej Świrski, does not pay money to the media because “his political colleagues are not in power there.” He also ruled that Świrski drastically broke the law and that a report had been submitted to the prosecutor’s office in this case.

PiS MP and former Minister of Culture in the PiS government Piotr Glinski Commenting on this announcement on Thursday at a press conference in the Sejm, he said that “Sienkiewicz has unlawfully destroyed Polish culture, he breaks the law every day, he violates the constitution, because it clearly states that the minister must act within the framework of the law and on the basis of the law.”

Cultural institutions
Minister Sienkiewicz dismissed the directors of the Pilecki Institute, Magdalena Gawin, the Polish Institute of Cinematography, Radosław Śmigulski, and the Institute for the Heritage of National Thought, Jan Żaryn. He also announced the resignation of the head of the Polonics Institute, Dorota Janiszewska-Jakubiak. He announced that there will be new management at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute from May 1.

You are all responsible for these actions, which you will be responsible for because they are illegal, because you vote for them. This is the destruction of cultural institutions. This is happening in violation of the law, because, as you know, there are specific grounds for dismissing directors in the law you voted for, and all this is being violated and destroyed.

Regarding the Sienkiewicz decision, Prof. Gliński also commented during a press conference in the Sejm.
This is a continuation of the process of destroying Polish culture that has been going on for four months. These dismissals, like the previous ones, are illegal and for purely political reasons. Mr. Lieutenant Colonel Sienkiewicz said that the reason for his actions, which he himself calls “butcher’s work”, is the concretization of Polish law. The law on the basis of which Polish cultural institutions operate was adopted by the predecessors of the governments in which I had the right to sit.

There is talk of ruining the rule of law and violating the law and the constitution. (…) All four decisions are illegal. (…) This is still a powerful destruction of the Polish legal order and cultural institutions, to the detriment of this culture. All these philosophical justifications, which are often found in this buffoonery and in all the speeches of Mr. Sienkiewicz, have two characteristic features. On the one hand, Lieutenant Colonel Sienkiewicz is a philosopher-autocrat who believes he has the right to make free decisions about the Polish constitutional state, the Polish institutional order and Polish culture. There is no such law

The law is brutally broken and justified in an often ridiculous, bloated and empty way. (…) Mr Sienkiewicz denies the right of people who think differently to function in the Polish institutional order. For example, he mentions circles that are concerned with the legacy of national thought-extremist circles. He lies about some facts. The second manifestation of this philosophizing, because it is difficult to call it serious, is the incompetence that arises from these verbal tirades, this buffoonery. For example, Mr Sienkiewicz does not know that the Polish Cathedral or the Armenian Cathedral in Lviv are under the care of the Polish nature conservation services and that the Polonica Institute has been carrying out projects there for years.
