No one bothers to clean the ports
The Kremlin hosted a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Even before the event began, Russian leader spokesman Dmitry Peskov made it clear that Moscow attaches special importance to the meeting, as Putin will speak with the head of the G-20 summit, this time in Indonesia.
The main theme of the meeting, as expected, was food safety.
Before the start of the meeting, the Russian President hastened to reassure his Indonesian counterpart that Russia is in no way hindering the export of Ukrainian grain. In addition, adding that the volume of grain produced in Ukraine does not affect the dynamics of supply in the world, Putin once again focused on the reluctance of the Ukrainian authorities to clear mines in Ukrainian ports.
Russia will provide
After meeting with the Indonesian leader, Putin found the talks meaningful and added that Russia is ready to fully meet Indonesia’s fertilizer demand. Regarding the problems with the instability of the food market, Putin said that the responsibility for this lies in the uncontrolled economic policy of the West.
“We have repeatedly emphasized that the imbalance in food markets is a direct result of the long-term and irresponsible economic policies of many countries. “Uncontrolled emissions and accumulation of unsecured debts,” the Russian leader said.
Putin reminded Widodo that Russia regularly supplies agricultural products to 161 countries of the world and will continue to fulfill supply contracts in good faith.
“We certainly want to continue to fulfill our contractual obligations in good faith regarding the supply of food, fertilizer, energy and other critical goods,” Putin said.
Ukraine and sanctions
Politicians also discussed the situation in Ukraine and the challenges facing the world economy after the sanctions against Russia came into effect.
“I have briefed Mr. President in detail about the situation developing in the direction of Ukraine,” the Russian President told reporters.
Equally important, Putin said, is restoring supply chains that have been disrupted by sanctions.
Joko Widodo also told reporters that he gave a message to Putin from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
G-20 and international partnership
At the meeting, the presidents also discussed partnerships in the trade sector. According to Putin, Russia counts on continuing negotiations on the creation of a free trade area between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries and Indonesia.
»We also attach great importance to the creation of a free trade zone between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union.
The topic of the conversation was the resumption of direct flights between Moscow and the resort town of Bali.
“Naturally, during the negotiations with Mr. Joko Widodo, attention was drawn to such an important area of cooperation as humanitarian, cultural, tourism and educational exchange. This will be facilitated, among other things, by the easing of anti-COVID travel restrictions for citizens alongside the current visa-free regime. “The possibility of resuming direct flights from Moscow to the resort town of Bali is being discussed,” Putin said.
He also supported Indonesia’s efforts to host the G-20 summit.
“Of course, we support the efforts of Indonesia and the President himself to prepare and realize the G20 that will be held in Indonesia this year,” said Putin.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said in a statement after the meeting that President Putin will personally decide on Russia’s participation in the G20 summit.
