A sit-in strike began at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. As Tomasz Obszański informs in an interview with Tysol.pl, farmers are demanding that Prime Minister Donald Tusk come and talk to farmers. The chairman of the independent farmers’ union ‘Solidarity’ emphasizes that so far, despite assurances, ‘there are no details’.
The head of the agricultural movement “Solidarity” believes that at the meetings held so far, farmers hear only promises, but nothing is done, and therefore “the protests will continue.”
As farmers we have made a gesture of goodwill, but so far nothing has come of it. There are no details. We will go on strike and stay at the ministry so that we can talk to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister will come to us and talk to us so that we can draw up a certain action plan to work out some things that are necessary today for both the farmers and the Polish state.
– said Tomasz Obszański.

Conversations that lead nowhere
Tomasz Obszański recalls that farmers have already made a gesture of goodwill, but those in power have not proposed anything specific.
Today we were invited by the minister to the Ministry of Agriculture, but nothing actually resulted from these conversations. The composition of the conversations was the same as in Jesionka. Certain agreements had been put on paper and the ministry would fulfill them, but nothing has happened so far.
– said the President of the Independent Farmers’ Trade Union “Solidarity” and added:
Minister Siekierski and Kołodziejczak should inform the Prime Minister about what is happening at the Ministry of Agriculture and that the Prime Minister should meet farmers. Unfortunately, this current situation needs to be resolved. We have been appointed to this representation by farmers, so we are waiting for the Prime Minister to arrive.

They destroy farmers
There are people working to destroy the agricultural community. Farmers are united, they are together, we are all working towards a common goal, which is the complete rejection of the Green Deal and resolving the situation with Ukraine. These are special arrangements that farmers bring with them. There is no division, farmers are together and do not want to divide
– said Obszański.
It is mainly about war compensation. As Solidarity, we have asked the ministry and the prime minister to allocate 15 billion euros to all sectors of agriculture. Just as with COVID-19 there were compensations, 260 billion was allocated, here we want 15 billion euros allocated to the agricultural sector and the government must fight for this in the European Commission
– summarized the chairman of NSZZ “Solidarność” RI.
