“The response of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be more decisive,” said Paweł Jabłoński in an interview with wPolityce.pl. As the former Deputy Foreign Minister emphasizes: “A crime has been committed” and the perpetrators must be held accountable. “What is more important here is the identity of the perpetrators responsible for this murder,” adds the Law and Justice politician.

wPolityce.pl: Did the Foreign Ministry led by Radosław Sikorski respond correctly to the death of a Pole who died as a result of an Israeli airstrike?
Pawel Jablonski: The Polish Foreign Ministry’s response should be more decisive. A Polish citizen, together with other citizens, was murdered in an absolutely criminal manner, in violation of international law and in violation of international humanitarian law. Those responsible for this murder must face the consequences. There should be a stronger response here and I hope there will be. A situation in which the Minister of Foreign Affairs writes on Twitter that he has personally contacted the ambassador is inappropriate. It is not the minister who is responsible for summoning the ambassador, but a person at the level of the department director or one of the state secretaries. This is a disorder of the right order. Our diplomacy’s approach to this issue is chaotic.
Do you think this will continue?
We will see what happens next, also as members of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs.
According to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, procedures are underway to determine the identity of the Pole. But the president of Przemyśl has already revealed his identity.
The question of identity seems to have already been clarified by many sources. What is more important here is the identity of the perpetrators responsible for this murder. The information that Israel is now providing to investigate this matter must actually happen. You cannot limit yourself to accepting this message and considering that the matter is over. There is a need to continually demand information from Israel about the stage the investigation is at and what has been found. Will there be consequences for those responsible?
Do you think the Israeli military will identify those responsible for the deaths of civilians?
An attack took place on a marked humanitarian convoy, and according to media reports, the Israeli side was informed that such a convoy was moving. There has probably been an attack on civilians and workers of a humanitarian organization. This is contrary to international law and constitutes a war crime. Those responsible for this crime must be held accountable.
Do you think Poland should consult with other countries to explain the causes of this attack?
It is advisable to work with allies, especially those countries whose citizens have been killed. It is in our interest that the killers of the Poles are held accountable. We must demand that Israel draws appropriate consequences. It is the duty of the Polish government to take action to make this possible. Is this possible? I think it depends on what actions we take.
Thank you for the conversation.
