Patryk Słowik, a journalist from Wirtualna Polska, became the target of attacks by some politicians of Donald Tusk’s coalition and its supporters after he wrote a text with findings unfavorable to prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek. The hate also fell on the entire WP. Słowik responded to these attacks in a long post on the X platform.

Very seriously: when politicians, including members of the Polish government, four years after the Suwart case, participate in the mass action to close down WP, which they have been willing to talk to and refer to WP’s findings all these years journalists, because WP published my text about a prosecutor they like – this is an interesting approach to freedom of expression and the functioning of the media, because it is clear to me that the point is that no one will dare to write about those that we like again. Politicians from Donald Tusk’s coalition spoke a lot – especially in the election campaign before the parliamentary elections – about democracy, the rule of law and free media. To show credibility, they should not attack Wirtualna Polska now just because one of its journalists wrote a text that puts prosecutor Ewa Wrzosek in a bad light.
