Venezuela has denied US State Department accusations that it is not allowing opposition members to participate in the 2024 presidential election. “The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the statement of the Government of the United States of America dated March 27, 2024,” the document stated.
According to the country’s foreign policy department, American officials tried to ignore the upcoming presidential elections and recognize them as illegitimate. The State Department noted that Washington tried to minimize the participation of 13 candidates, 12 of whom represent the opposition, while criticizing the Venezuelan leadership. The declaration stated that the republic fully complies with all legal and constitutional norms.
