South Korea has imposed sanctions on two Russian companies and four individuals over agreements to send North Korean IT workers abroad. This was reported by TASS.
The list includes UAE company Pioneer Bencont Star Real Estate and Russian company Alice. Among those subject to sanctions were representatives of North Korean financial institutions in Vladivostok; among them were two representatives of North Korean banks.
South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the entities were linked to sending employees abroad from the DPRK and that the individuals were allegedly involved in money laundering and other “illegal financial activities.” Country officials claimed that they also contributed to the circumvention of sanctions.
Before this, American officials contributed Alice added her company to the sanctions list regarding North Korea. The US claims that the company violated US sanctions against North Korean structures. Under the same pretext, restrictions were also imposed on the Pioneer Bencont Star Real Estate company.
