A letter has been sent from the President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the National Bank of Poland announced on Wednesday. Glapiński spoke in an interview for “FT” about a letter to the head of government to end the dispute.
Following the correspondence, we would like to inform you that the letter has been sent to Prime Minister Donald Tusk
– the National Bank of Poland informed PAP on Wednesday.
NBP President Adam Glapiński spoke about the letter to Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the Financial Times on Monday. He announced that he would send a letter to the head of government to put an end to the increasingly heated dispute, which – as he warned – is damaging Poland’s international image.
I will send a letter to Mr Tusk to say that there are so many misunderstandings and so many bad words said on both sides that I think it is time to meet and talk.
– Glapiński noted.
Representatives of the NBP board said at a press conference on Tuesday that they would not reveal the contents of the letter until it reaches the addressee.
Petition concerning the State Court
On Tuesday, 191 parliamentarians from the ruling coalition filed a preliminary request to summon NBP President Adam Glapiński to the State Tribunal. It accused the President of the NBP of violating the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and laws, including: by indirectly financing the budget deficit as part of the asset purchase in 2020-2021, by carrying out this purchase without “proper consent” of the Monetary Policy Council and by not complying with the apolitical order of the NBP President.
