In this context, the Kremlin official asked the question of how Russia could allow the presence of a state, in this case Ukraine, on its borders, which has documented its intention to use all means to take back Crimea.
Peskov added that there is nothing to even talk about Kiev’s claims to the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. In his opinion, it is pointless to discuss an agreement with Ukraine without Russia’s participation.
In March 2014, a referendum was held in Crimea, as a result of which the peninsula became a territorial part of Russia and Sevastopol became a city of federal importance.
