Former NBP President Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz stated that the current head of the central bank, Adam Glapiński, should no longer serve in his position. “At first glance, the State Tribunal is a good proposal,” the former Warsaw president said.
Prof. Adam Glapiński reported this in the Financial Times I will write a letter to Prime Minister Donald Tusk to try to reach an agreement with the current Polish government, which is hostile to him. The NBP president decided that bringing him before the State Tribunal could have very serious political and economic consequences for Poland.
Dignity of office
Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz commented on these announcements on RMF FM, pointing out that she did not understand Glapiński’s idea of writing a letter to Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
What can Glapiński say to Tusk? That he cooperates? He doesn’t do you any favors. It is his duty to cooperate with the government
– she assessed.
She also accused the current head of the National Bank of Poland that, instead of cooperating with the PiS government, he was completely dependent on it and behaved like a politician from the then government camp.
For me the most important thing is that he behaved like a party member. He tried to come to power for a second term and joined only one party. And also to the headquarters on Nowogrodzka Street to confirm that he will stay for a second term
— Gronkiewicz-Waltz criticized Glapiński.
She also ruled that – in her opinion – Prof. Glapiński violated the seriousness and dignity of the office of President of the NBP.
Prevention?
The former mayor of Warsaw accused Glapiński of being close to criminal prosecution by informing about the expected increase in interest rates.
You cannot predict what interest rate movements will be. All the slogans he hung at the National Bank of Poland. The NBP looked like a bazaar full of sheets. There it was written that those who criticize him are implementing the Kremlin’s policies. This is an unacceptable political activity
– said Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
The politician also sees the motion to appoint Prof. Glapiński’s act of political revenge before the State Tribunal.
This is not revenge, but rather prevention, so that the next central bank governor will never try to negotiate with the government again.
– she said.
This can be done through the State Tribunal, as it has clearly violated some provisions of both the Constitution and the Statutes, or through constitutional responsibility. At first glance, the State Tribunal is a good proposal
– emphasized Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
I wonder if Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz remembers what her “apolitical” years as president were like in the capital.
