Russia’s ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreev, did not arrive at the Foreign Ministry on Monday, said Paweł Wroński, spokesman for the Ministry of Diplomacy. He added that a diplomatic note requesting clarification on the violation of Polish airspace would be forwarded to the Russian Foreign Ministry via a different route.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman said Andreyev did not come to the ministry’s headquarters to explain the incident involving the Russian cruise missile that violated Polish airspace on March 24.
Wroński noted that the Vienna Convention clearly specifies the duties of an ambassador to the host country. “We wonder whether the ambassador is following the instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow and whether he can properly represent the interests of the Russian Federation in Warsaw,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
He said a diplomatic note from the Polish Foreign Ministry asking for clarification on the violation of Polish airspace would be forwarded to the Russian Foreign Ministry by other means.
