As long as the war in Ukraine continues, incidents such as violations of Polish airspace by Russian missiles will most likely continue to occur, Sejm Chairman Szymon Hołownia said today.
The Marshal was referring to the situation on Sunday morning when – as reported by the Operational Command of the Armed Forces – one of the Russian cruise missiles violated Polish airspace.

Such incidents have happened, are happening and will most likely continue to happen as long as the war in Ukraine continues. (…) The most important thing is that we are safe, that all systems have worked, that we must improve these systems even further, so to speak, and spare neither effort nor money in arming ourselves
– said the marshal.
The most important thing is whether we can respond to such situations, and it turned out again that we can. All systems were working, the service couple was captured, all NATO and domestic systems were working properly

Appropriate response
He explained that Polish systems respond not only when a missile enters our airspace, but also when a Russian bomber is taken out of a hangar at one of the Russian bases.
The Marshal stressed that all actions related to the interception and shooting down of missiles violating Polish airspace must be undertaken in such a way that they do not harm the Polish civilian population.
Shooting down such a missile means that the remains have to fall somewhere, which becomes an uncontrolled and much more complicated process. (…) I am absolutely convinced that the army has behaved here exactly as it should
– said Hołownia.
There is a lot of talk about whether it was possible to shoot down this missile or not. Keep in mind that this is a very short time for a very fast flying object, and shooting down such a missile on Polish territory means that you cannot determine where the remains will fall. So those who decide whether to shoot it or not, since it has changed its trajectory and is already leaving the territory of the Republic of Poland, take this into account.

COD message
As reported on Sunday morning by the Operational Command of the Armed Forces Branches on Platform bee. “At 4:23 am there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched this night by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation.”
The targets of the attacks were cities in western Ukraine
– added.
The object entered Polish space near the city of Oserdów (Lublin Voivodeship) and remained there for 39 seconds
– wrote in a message to the RSZ.
It was emphasized that he was observed by military radar systems throughout the flight.
Last night the Lviv region was subjected to a Russian attack with missiles and drones. An air raid siren was declared throughout Ukraine.
It is worth considering what politicians from the current ruling coalition would say in a similar situation, if PiS were currently in power in Poland.
