Holy Week is a special time that prepares Christians to experience the mystery of the Lord’s resurrection. In the Christmas issue of the weekly magazine “Sieci”, Grzegorz Górny describes how the Easter Mystery was experienced by great mystics. The weekly also contains a special supplement “For Easter” and current commentaries on political life in Poland and the rest of the world.

“The Paschal Mystery through the eyes of mystics”
Easter brings joy and hope. However, it is preceded by the suffering and martyrdom of Christ, which is an inseparable part of the truth about salvation. As Grzegorz Górny notes in the article “The Paschal Mystery through the Eyes of Mystics,” this mystery has been pondered by Christian mystics for centuries, and some have also received the grace to share the Passion of Christ.
The first stigma in the history of Christianity was Saint. Francis of Assisi. The founder of the Franciscan order received stigmata, that is, the wounds of Christ, on his own body on Mount La Verna in Italy between September 15 and 29, 1224. While praying he had a mystical vision. In subsequent centuries, similar marks appeared on the bodies of several hundred people, including: Saint Catherine of Siena, Saint. Rita of Cascia, Saint Teresa of Ávila, saint. John of the Cross or Blessed Anna Catherine Emmerich. Many of them were examined by doctors. The most extensive medical documentation remains of figures such as Louise Lateau, Teresa Neumann, Saint. Padre Pio or Natuzza Evolo. In all these cases, researchers confirmed the authenticity of stigmata (i.e. wounds that appeared spontaneously, did not disappear or heal, but also did not fester or rot), but were unable to explain this phenomenon scientifically. What remains inexplicable in the light of science becomes understandable in the light of faith
– points to a columnist from the weekly magazine “Sieci”.
Although stigmata have only been experienced by mystics of the Western Church, there is a case of 60-year-old Myrna Nazzour, who lives in Damascus and belongs to the Melkite Church, one of the Eastern churches that recognizes the authority of the Pope.
This Syrian Christian has experienced stigmatization since 1984 when wounds similar to those of Jesus on the cross appeared on her body. This phenomenon repeats itself on Good Friday, but only in years when the Catholic and Orthodox churches celebrate Easter at the same time. Since the date of the appearance of her stigmata is known earlier, the phenomenon could be studied by numerous scientists. In 1987, 1990, 2001 and 2004, teams of doctors from France, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the US arrived in Damascus with the most modern research equipment. All their observations showed that we are dealing with a phenomenon against which medicine remains helpless because it is unable to explain its nature. Each time, stigmata appeared spontaneously and later disappeared without leaving a trace, which was captured by cameras.

“‘Butcher’s work’ by Minister Sienkiewicz”
Last week was all about holding Donald Tusk accountable for the first hundred days of his administration. Most observers of political life are under no illusions that the implementation of election promises – which should be considered a very mild term – is unsatisfactory. Prof. Piotr Gliński, in an interview with Jacek and Michał Karnowski (“Butcher’s work” of Minister Sienkiewicz”) even speaks about the collapse and destruction of the achievements of the United Right government.
We are experiencing the degradation of Polish democracy, which is turning into autocracy and, in some areas, into a state of illegitimate dictatorship. The current government takes over – forcibly and illegally – subsequent institutions, including public media, courts, prosecutor’s offices, cultural institutions, and attacks the Constitutional Court, the National Bank of Poland, the Supreme Court and the office of the President. of the Republic of Poland. The law is broken – deliberately, knowingly, openly. But it is also about intimidating society, with a psychosocial effect that makes it easier to manipulate
– emphasizes the former Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Piotr Gliński also notes that the illegal and forceful exercise of power by the current government is clearly visible in the ministry he heads. It is not just about how we can take over public media, but also about closing cultural institutions and destroying their existing achievements.
In 19 cases, investments have been suspended or preparations for suspension are underway. Many directors received such decisions already in early January, which was justified by “budgetary reasons”. This affected, among others, such important institutions as the Museum for the Remembrance of the Victims of the Volhynian Massacre in Chełm or the National Museum in Warsaw. These often involve very advanced projects, completed in international architectural competitions. The Polish Royal Opera is in such a situation, as is the new branch of the National Museum in the former Cracovia hotel, which would be dedicated to design and architecture. Work on the construction of new seats of the National Museum of Technology and the Museum of Natural History, which were to be built on the grounds of the National Stadium, was also halted. We have been preparing this wonderful project for three years
– he makes it clear.
“Stab in Your Eye”
Prime Minister Donald Tusk also summarized his 100 days during a press conference. He said his government had done more than any other government in the history of the Third Polish Republic. As Marek Pyza notes in the article “Kit w Polsce,” these three months… “were, after all, nothing more than a herd of hungry hyenas attacking state property.”
They created the largest government in history just to ensure that each of the coalition formations had sufficient positions in it. They quickly took over state-owned enterprises and filled them with party nominees. The first competitions for the boards of directors of these companies are in preparation, with the “competitions” being won by the trusted people of the ministers. They used Jaruzelski’s power and methods to pacify the public media. They organized a three-way investigative spectacle in the Sejm and threw the most intellectually embarrassing forces at it, just to give the crowd anti-PiS games to cover up what they are actually preparing for us.
– comment on the coalition government, columnist of the weekly magazine “Sieci”.
According to Tusk, his government is facing major difficulties. It included: fighting in front of the Sejm, brawling in the Sejm or vetoing laws by the president. What does it actually look like?
(…) Until now, the only people who hit anyone in front of the Sejm were police officers, sent by Minister Kierwiński to disperse the peasants. Tusk’s soldiers are specialists in brawling in the Sejm, which they expressed at every meeting of the previous two terms. After that, we were repeatedly confronted with blocking the pulpit, packing boxes in the plenary hall, constant shouting, insults and even searches of the private property of coalition MPs. The president has vetoed one bill since December. Let’s repeat: ONE! Could it contain solutions that would satisfy Tusk’s 90 unrealized details?
– asks Marek Pyza.
