The battle that Law and Justice waged against the ruling party on the occasion of the centenary of the government was not fought under favorable circumstances. The December 13 coalition is still covered in a layer of Teflon and, most importantly, a cordon of media propaganda. The consequences of Tusk and his friends’ laziness are not yet visible; the state of affairs in Poland – thanks to the momentum after the PiS rule – is still good. Destructive ideas, such as the extremist New Green Deal or the euro that would rob us, have not come into effect. Moreover, the public gossip from the right-wing camp offends voters.
And yet, despite these difficulties, these the battle is won. Law and Justice has once again reaped the benefits of standing for the truth: without ridiculing the opponent (as some suggest), without pride and conceit, with a serious approach to public affairs. I’ll say it again because the first victory was the President’s testimony Jarosław Kaczyński for the Pegasus Commission, also submitted in the same tone.
I have written more about it in the text. President Kaczyński’s triumph at the Pegasus Commission threw the government into turmoil. It’s understandable, they also know what happened.
Thanks to this attitude and well-executed preparatory work, the short celebration of the Hundred Days of Power was demonstrated cynicism with which the then opposition submitted “100 details”. Despite the media cordon, Poles received the message that no one in the coalition on December 13 had any intention of keeping the promises made (in some cases that’s a good thing), and no one thinks that way today. shame.
The ruling regime has so much confidence in this he openly chuckles of electorally deceived Poland. They say directly to the Poles: we have your vote and you will not harm us. With the help of the police, we shut down any television that could give it a name, and we took new “editors” into the TV studios in police dogs. We have shown that we will be the opposition lock up in prisons, and we will try to outlaw the critics. With a cynical smile they add that this is exactly what the German European authorities want.
The audience plans to throw emotional beads: arguments about abortion, the lack of religion on the certificate, a pat on the back from Berlin, happy with the pacification of Polish ambition.
For people who are mad with hate, this is enough. But most don’t. Many Poles actually believed out of desperation or stupidity professional liars. They believed that Tusk and his team would reduce fuel prices to 5 PLN per liter, abolish the mandatory ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), reduce taxes, provide a better housing loan and that student dormitories would cost 1 PLN. Etc etc.
They promised so much and deceived so brazenly that today they have to scrap old texts and nonsense about ‘metaphors’.
Poland, not living in big cities, already feels like the good times are over. This development will be stopped. There will be no investments, no bypasses – there will be German wind turbines on expropriated sites and terrible energy costs – introduced just after the June European elections, so people will only notice the increases in their December bills.
This is politically highly flammable ground. All it takes is for something to really break down, break down, stop working, get really worse – even through no fault of their own – and there will be an explosion of disappointment. They have already become memes. They wear out faster than I thought and than they look. It is possible that this will be reflected in the results of the local elections, perhaps the European elections, or even the presidential elections. But the direction is clear.
The ‘kings of lies’ who rule us will pay a high price for their hypocrisy, perhaps sooner than we think.
An important conclusion can be drawn from these days: despite the temptation to become ‘cool’ or to surrender spiritually and programmatically, if Law and Justice really wants to win, it must remain a serious party. By taking it seriously the relationship between words and actionsthe success of the years 2015-2023 was hidden in Jarosław Kaczyński’s persistent desire to implement the program. And there is also a recipe for regaining power.
