U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman and senior Republican Ben Cardin (Democrat from Maryland) and Roger Wicker (from Mississippi) have introduced a bill against those who, according to Washington, are allegedly “undermining democratic processes and institutions” around the world. This was reported by TASS.
The publication states that the bill should form the basis for imposing restrictions on foreigners who undermine democratic processes and institutions under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Act.
The initiative will strengthen the State Department and other federal agencies’ efforts to support prisoners and shape U.S. policy to combat digital authoritarianism and disinformation.
