We continue to think that the Institute of National Remembrance should be liquidated – said Stanisław Wziątek, deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense on Wednesday in Świnoujście. The Institute of National Remembrance must be liquidated, we know how to do it, we just need the consent and agreement of all our coalition partners – the left-wing politician added.
The Institute of National Remembrance must be liquidated, we know how to do it, we just need the consent and agreement of all our coalition partners
– said Wziątek during a press conference in Świnoujście.
The left wing, which I represent, does not have the greatest strength in this government when it comes to the number of parliamentarians who can vote for these solutions, but we must look for common ground.
– added the Deputy Minister.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Defense also referred to the security issue in the context of the war in Ukraine.
A large-scale war in Ukraine poses a serious threat to the security of our country. This is also a serious threat to the security of other European countries. That is why we must do everything now so that we can adequately prepare for the threat situation
– said Wziątek.
As he clarified, “it’s not just about buying new military equipment, new equipment.”
The point here is to build our capabilities, our defense industry, so that this industry can drive the Polish economy, so that we can build the state’s resistance to threats, and not just this one military aspect.
– noted the Deputy Minister.
It is also about the need to think about protecting the population, because this is our function. The function of the military and this philosophy of national defense: defense of the state, our independence, freedom and security of citizens
– Wziątek added.
Civil Protection Act
As he emphasized, a new law on civil protection and population protection must be prepared. Its tasks include: increasing awareness of threats, creating a decision-making and management system in this area, determining who will make possible decisions and under what circumstances, and what powers they will have.
How to build an agreement between the government, local government and the military and how to build the resilience of the state with some cooperation. After all, the local government is closest to the residents
– Wziątek noticed.
Referring to the problem of shelters, he noted that shelters are so-called places centers, perhaps in Świnoujście they are in the best condition, but this is a legacy of former times.
Now in many cities of our country they do not exist or are in a terrible technical condition. There is no philosophy that dictates the need to build them or, when carrying out investments for public purposes, to create such facilities in which people can take shelter in a dangerous situation.
– said the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense.
He also pointed out that society needs to recognize alarm systems, know where to go and provide basic assistance to those in need. According to him, this is “basic work that needs to be done”.
According to the report of the Supreme Court of Audit published last week on the inspection of the supply of places for civilians, it follows that two years after the start of a large-scale war in Ukraine, in Poland less than four percent of the population can count on shelters and shelters, there is no civil protection and citizens do not know where to look for a safe place in case of danger.
We have another example of the collapsing state institutions of the December 13 coalition.
