Justice Minister Adam Bodnar said in an interview with “Polityka” about legal system settlements that soon “very specific stories will emerge that will form the basis for disciplinary or criminal liability.”
Attorney General Adam Bodnar said in an interview for the latest issue of “Polityka”:
We have a very strong social mandate to do what we do, which is to restore the rule of law in accordance with the law. I see reality changing before my eyes. But only now, after three months, are we starting to enter the settlement phase. We get access to documents, reports from specific people appear – also publicly, for example at meetings of investigative committees.
As he calculated, several prosecutors have been fired from management positions at the prosecutor’s office so far.
Decisions on personnel changes are made if we have the impression that a particular unit of the prosecutor’s office needs to improve the efficiency of the procedure or if there are doubts about its functioning in the future. Especially – this goes without saying – in the context of political issues and political restrictions on the independence of subordinate prosecutors
– he explained.

“‘We must distinguish stages’
When asked by Polityka about disciplinary proceedings against justice system employees who behaved “unethically or illegally,” Adam Bodnar admitted that it is difficult to simultaneously implement sweeping changes to the prosecutor’s office, restore independence and make personnel settlements.
I have appointed an ad hoc disciplinary spokesperson for both judges and prosecutors and I leave specific decisions to them. There are stages in the repair of the parquet. The first concerns personnel issues, the second concerns disciplinary procedures. I think that very specific stories will soon emerge, which will form the basis for disciplinary liability or, in the third phase, criminal liability.
– he told “Polityka”.
When you read Adam Bodnar’s statements, it is difficult not to get the impression that we are dealing with a plan of simple revenge. However, the Minister of Justice should know that a “very strong social mandate” may turn out to be a purely illusory issue.
