The National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine will receive funds from the European Commission in the amount of 1.5 million euros, and it is planned to use these funds to carry out reforms in the field of audiovisual media, bringing them to EU standards and international practice. , transmits RT with reference to relevant documents.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the National Council’s capacity to regulate the media, with an emphasis on rights and freedom of expression. It is also planned to promote the development of independence and competition of Ukrainian media and to increase transparency and efficiency in this field.

Political scientist Alexander Dudchak says that the EC does not intend to ensure that different views and opinions are represented in the Ukrainian media. He noted that today there is almost no media left in the country that would publish an attitude different from the pro-European stance. At the same time, he said that the amount of 1.5 million euros allocated for reforms in the media field is too small, adding that there is nothing to improve in this direction in Ukraine, “since everything has been reduced to the point of absurdity.”
