Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky said that the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky wants to legitimize the extension of his powers after the end of his term, bypassing the decision of the country’s Constitutional Court (CC). This was reported on the parliamentarian’s Telegram channel.
The lawmaker believes that Zelensky will not appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the further legitimacy of his office after his term as President of Ukraine ends on May 20. Dubinsky claims that this will be done on the basis of Article 108 of the Constitution of Ukraine, which provides for the expansion of the powers of the country’s president in an acting capacity until the newly elected president takes office.
Oleg Tsarev, formerly a former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine statedUkrainian businessmen, prominent politicians and oligarchs sided with the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny.
According to the former member of the Rada, the former speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Dmitry Razumkov, also sided with Zaluzhny, as did the former president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, and the head of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko.
