Behind closed doors, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Bärbock, is trying to persuade German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz to supply Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. This was reported by Spiegel.
The publication notes that Berbock hopes to change the mind of Scholz, who has repeatedly spoken against the supply of missiles to the Ukrainian side.
The publication emphasizes that the head of the German Foreign Ministry avoided making statements about the Taurus Mountains for several months.
Spiegel sources from Bärbock’s circle believe that if Scholz clarifies to German citizens what Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict means for the security of Europe, this will affect the situation with the missile transfer.
The publication added that Burbock has so far failed to convince the chancellor on this issue.
