Palestinian groups, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad (an organization banned in Russia), the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Palestine National Initiative party, opposed the decision to form a new Palestinian government. This was reported by RIA News.

In the joint statement of the Palestinian movements, it is pointed out that making unilateral decisions, engaging in the unfounded official side, and establishing a new government without national consensus further deepens the division.

The publication notes that the Palestinian issue currently “criminally requires reconciliation and unity, as well as the establishment of a single national leadership” in order to hold democratic elections.

Palestinian groups emphasized their opposition to continuing such an approach.

Before this, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accepted Resignation of the government led by Mohammed Shtayyeh. Abbas issued a decree regarding this. He also instructed Shtayya and his government to temporarily lead the work of the Cabinet until a new government is formed.

Previously Lavrov statedRussia advocates the establishment of a Palestinian state.
