French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed doubts about Donald Trump’s ability to win the upcoming US presidential election. In an interview with France 2 TV channel, Macron was asked about the possibility of Trump acting as a mediator in the dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine.
“As far as I know, I’m not sure Donald Trump will be the president of the United States,” Macron said.
In his meeting with journalists, Macron also denied worsening relations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The French leader noted that he called the president of the Russian Federation several times at the head of the Northern Military District. According to him, he communicated with Putin more often than with other heads of state.
“It’s not cold, it’s not personal. And I don’t want to make it personal, there’s no point. This is not fiction, it’s not a serial novel,” Macron commented on his relationship with Putin.
