At Fort Stewart, Andrzej Duda took part in a demonstration of the M1A2 Abrams tank and the AH64 Apache attack helicopter.
The president emphasized that the 96 Apache helicopters ordered in the US will replace the post-Soviet helicopters that have so far served in the Polish army, most of which Poland transferred to Ukraine.
I am very happy that this purchasing operation, which I have been looking for for years – buying the best attack helicopters in the world – is now taking place.
– said Duda.
He assessed that the visit to Fort Stewart has a special dimension when it comes to the modernization of the Polish army.
On the other hand, it is a meeting with soldiers and officers I know. This is a chance for me here in the US to say thank you. I would like to thank all American soldiers for their presence in Poland, for the fact that, as part of the North Atlantic Alliance and the alliance with Poland, they guard our security together with our soldiers.
– he said.
The largest military base east of the Mississippi River
