Mec. Bartosz Lewandowski, who, together with the Ordo Iuris Institute, defended two farmers detained by police, points out that police methods are increasingly reminiscent of those used to disperse the pre-2015 Independence March. The lawyer also debunked the story about ‘drunk hooligans’ with whom the police allegedly clashed.

Lewandowski and his team represented two farmers who were treated extremely treacherously by the authorities.
We have been dealing with two people involving the Ordo Iuris Institute, two people accused of “participating in a meeting” allegedly aimed at committing crimes against police officers. This is a recipe: a relic of communism that can be applied in all cases where a crowd comes into contact with the police. One of these arrested men was a 65-year-old farmer who was seriously ill. Police say the accusation that he “beat the officers in the feet with eggs” is likely. So he didn’t throw stones, but an egg, “which violated his physical immunity and acted with blatant disregard for the rule of law”
– quoted Bartosz Lewandowski on television in Poland.
The second case is much more bizarre, as it involves a 22-year-old man who was accused of participating in a demonstration where he ‘moved with the crowd’. This means that he did nothing and was only surrounded by people participating in the protest. We are preparing complaints, but I feel like I’m back on the app and back to defending people regarding the Independence March that was organized before 2015
– the lawyer recalled.
The police had a very big problem taking fingerprints because this old man’s hands were worn out. This shows which people have been arrested by the police. Violence was used against hardworking people. However, there was so much commotion in the public space that we had to deal with aggressive people under the influence of alcohol. No, we have not had to deal with such people. This older man was sober, but was arrested and placed in a detention center. This is a scandal and we will take action when police officers exceed their powers
– said Bartosz Lewandowski.
How will the courts behave?
The lawyer was also asked about the court’s rulings. The program recalled the leniency of judges towards street fighters in the period 2015-2023.
I would like the courts to look at current police behavior as critically and fairly as they have in recent years. We, as defenders, will do everything we can to guarantee the right to defend the members of this protest. The way the farmers’ protest was suppressed is a sign of how the authorities will behave now. I wrote about it when I entered the presidential palace. The period in which the police only used direct coercive measures in emergency situations is over. Now this will happen at every anti-government demonstration (…)
– emphasized Bartosz Lewandowski
