According to Deputy Agriculture Minister Michał Kołodziejczak, Prime Minister Donald Tusk treated farmers fairly because… he immediately said that he did not know whether the EU would give up some provisions of the Green Deal. “We as farmers have become accustomed to wanting to listen to fairy tales and stories, fantasies, and we want to hear good words. For the first time, farmers are being treated seriously,” the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development argued on Radio One. Kołodziejczak accused the agricultural ‘Solidarity’ of… ‘carrying out PiS orders’ and being too involved in politics. Let us not forget that these words were spoken by the leader of AgroUnia, who put Donald Tusk on the KO list at the end of the campaign.
At the beginning of the conversation in “Sygnały Dnia” on program 1 of Polish Radio, Michał Kołodziejczak confirmed the information about the canceled meeting with farmers.
Yes, the farmers were warned that there would be no meeting today. We agreed with many of them together. This morning I am meeting with experts, people who will help us develop an appropriate mechanism, a mechanism that Prime Minister Donald Tusk also called for at the last meeting.
– he said.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture claimed that he was in constant contact with farmers and “the information came out through them to first devise, show and propose a certain mechanism.”
As Michał Kołodziejczak emphasized, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Czesław Siekierski, is in Ukraine and has instructed his deputy to work on developing a mechanism for today and tomorrow.
“We have to work on this”
Referring to Saturday’s meeting, which protesters said was a “monologue” by the government, the deputy minister responded:
I haven’t heard all farmers say that. Today I heard on a radio such a voice from the chairman of “Solidarity” Obszański.
Mr. Obszański didn’t say anything even once, as far as I remember, he just said that we should pray at the beginning. As far as I remember, that was the only time I spoke
– he said.
We must work to ensure that the agricultural side also receives such reliable, representative representation, because I wholeheartedly support the farmers.
– added.
Later in the conversation, he showed that he greatly appreciated his boss, especially Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Anyone who has worked with Prime Minister Donald Tusk knows very well that there is no room here for telling fairy tales, stories or making things up, there is only real work and the Prime Minister said: I want to have a mechanism developed on the the latest news on how we can help ensure that these 4 to 5 million tons of grain come from farmers and are sold
– emphasized the Deputy Minister.
Comparison with Wąsik and Kamiński
According to Michał Kołodziejczak, trade unions and the social scene must be “made more realistic”. Why? He gave the example of last week’s farmers’ demonstration, but did not mention how the riots started.
Didn’t you see the totally over-the-top behavior we saw a few weeks ago before the Sejm? The people who started storming the Sejm repeated the behavior of Mr. Wąsik and Kamiński, which took place in the presence of Prime Minister Kaczyński and former Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus. It’s exactly the same
– he said. However, he was not kind enough to elaborate on this certainly interesting comparison.
When asked if the police overreacted, he replied:
I don’t know the details or context to judge anyone.
In every protest that I organized, that AgroUnia organized, we didn’t focus on scuffles with the police, because then I not only automatically resolved the protests, but also got involved with people to ask them to disperse.
– said the politician who quarreled at the Ministry of Agriculture, destroyed the EU flag with a tractor, called for a vulgar gesture towards the United States, scattered vegetables and grain on the streets and engaged in other scandalous “events”.
Kołodziejczak was asked whether politicians were behind the intensification of the protests.
If the wife of the chairman of “Solidarity” ran for the Sejm from the PiS list, we can also see the clear involvement of Mr. Obszański’s family in political activities. We also see that many people, many parliamentarians and senators associated with Solidarity, are in appropriate positions. The rightful actions of farmers are being exploited by politicians, but I also see that many of those organizing protests today are on the lists for local assemblies, in elections for provincial assemblies, or for district councils, municipalities and for municipal heads or mayors . .
– he emphasized, apparently forgetting that until last year he himself organized protests, and then was on the KO lists for the Sejm, where he not only entered, but also got the position of deputy minister in the new government .
Today, the chairman of “Solidarity” only carries out the orders of the PiS party. This man is in trouble and he must be in big trouble because I can see it first of all because I’m in the community all the time. There is no public support among the farmers, he has no opportunity to strike personally, but he is under great pressure from the media and television
– he said.
““Historical Change”
Michał Kołodziejczak also argued that… during the PiS government, police violence was greater than now. He cited himself as an example because at one of the protests his “whole face was covered in tear gas.”
I haven’t seen a single farmer here with his whole face covered in gas like that
– he emphasized.
To the journalist’s comment that he was there and saw that there were some such people, he replied:
Yes, but my point is that police brutality has been absolutely staggering in recent years. We don’t talk about it today, it wasn’t on public television at the time. Please note this historic change. In recent years, public television was not even mentioned in “Wiadomości”, and today there are live reports.
As the police carried us out of the provincial station in Lublin, the television came on as if nothing had happened.
– he argued.
““Honest” and “serious” like… Tusk
Asked about the talks between the government and the European Commission, he again praised his boss.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk treated the farmers fairly. We as farmers have become accustomed to wanting to listen to fairy tales and stories, fantasies, and we want to hear good words. For the first time, farmers are being treated seriously when the Prime Minister comes out and says, I can tell you it will be, but I am 95-99% sure it will be, more than 90%. certainty that waste roads will be permanently given up from 2025, but the Prime Minister said he could tell farmers this on March 15
– he said.
After the brutal response of the police, the public is told that the protesting farmers (or at least some of them, but the generalization will spread to the whole group) are bandits and drunkards, and that in fact the services are operating with “restraint ” have acted. , is it really a serious approach? Does a huge row about abortion start a day after the farmers’ protest and the brutal police actions, as if this was the most important issue at that moment: serious treatment not only of farmers, but of Polish society in general?
