“During the talks, nothing new was agreed, we left with nothing and the border will not be closed – said Tomasz Obszański from NSZZ RI “Solidarność” after the meeting of farmers’ representatives with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He stressed that the nationwide farmers’ protests will continue and the next one will take place on March 20. Provincial and district towns should be blocked. Obszański emphasized that Tusk blamed him for the escalation of the protest in Warsaw.
Tomasz Obszański said after the meeting with Tusk that the meeting included the following: on fallow land to be replaced by legume crops. The subject of compensation was also discussed.
We’ve talked about compensation, but nothing specific has been said yet
– said the head of NSZZ RI “S”.
Nothing specific was actually said. The Prime Minister said only that he would accept the resignation of incompetent civil servants who fail to perform their duties. There are no reports on the work being carried out. In general there is a lot of chaos
– Obszański did not hide his disappointment.

We left with nothing
Most disappointing was Tusk’s statement that “he can’t do anything.”
We left with nothing. There are no details. The Prime Minister said his hands were tied and he could do nothing
– revealed the farmer, emphasizing that the talks on the embargo on Ukrainian products did not yield any results.
The border will not be closed and will remain open as before. There are no clear statements from the Prime Minister.
– said Tomasz Obszański.
These words are confirmed by Andrzej Sobociński, a farmer from Żuławy and one of the leaders of agricultural strikes.
And as for the border, he said he would not close the border. A larger share of Poland’s grain surplus and domestic funds will be needed. But he has to calculate it and gives the Ministry of Agriculture some time to determine what the amount is. We know how much of this surplus there is, (but) they have to count it and see what it looks like
– said Sobociński. In such a situation, the protests will continue.
The next protests will take place on March 20. Provincial and district towns and roads will be blocked. This will be a much stronger protest. Because farmers have a very big problem and there is no support from the state. I was criticized for protesting. We heard that it was not the fault of the government and the police, but that it was the fault of us and the provocateurs
– summarized the head of NSZZ RI “S”.
