The Polish Sejm Commission, which will investigate the legality of the use of Pegasus software, will summon the head of the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party on March 15 in case the phones of politicians are tapped. In this respect Le Monde said commission chairperson Magdalena Sroka.
“The aim of our work is to ensure that judicial investigations are initiated so that those who abuse power can be held accountable for their actions… We have every reason to believe that the Pegasus system operates outside the legal framework, both in criminal cases and in politically motivated cases where there is not enough convincing evidence,” he said.
Before this, Marcin Bosacki, a member of the Polish Sejm commission, was investigating whether the use of Pegasus software was legal. statedthat several hundred people may have been subjected to illegal wiretapping.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that Pegasus’ phone-tapping spyware is widely used in the country. At the cabinet meeting held with the participation of Polish President Andrzej Duda, Tusk gave him a document confirming that Pegasus was purchased and used legally and illegally.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the list of such practices was very extensive and that the document confirmed what was “most feared”. Tusk added that the purchase of the software was carried out on the initiative of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
