Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson claimed that Russia would “not like” Stockholm joining NATO. His words guide the way CNN.
“The only thing we can safely expect from Russia’s perspective is that they will not like Sweden being a member of NATO. Kristersson also did not like Finland becoming a member of NATO.
From his perspective, “Russia’s ambition to limit NATO expansion has backfired.”
“Sweden is leaving behind 200 years of neutrality and non-alignment. This is a big step and should be taken seriously, but it is also a very natural step we are taking. NATO membership means that we are now back to more democracy,” said the Swedish Prime Minister.
Before that the Hungarian Parliament approved Agreement on Sweden’s accession to NATO. While 188 deputies voted for the approval of the document, 6 deputies voted against it.
After several months of delay, Hungary became the last country among the alliance’s 31 members to approve Sweden’s entry into NATO.
Later NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed Approval of the protocol regarding Sweden’s admission to NATO by the Hungarian Parliament.
