Civic Platform parliamentarians came to Nowy Dwór Gdański to see and learn from the problems of farmers who have been protesting across Poland for days. “So you didn’t know about this problem before, but you discovered this problem today?” – said one of the farmers to them. As he added, in the Sejm they spent more time discussing the “morning after” pill than peasant issues.
According to information from GDDKiA, the S7 national road in Nowy Dwór Gdański is blocked in both directions. Civic Platform politicians, MPs Piotr Adamowicz and Kazimierz Plocke, and Senator Jerzy Wcisła came to the city. They wanted to learn more about the issues farmers face and see their protests. However, they received a cold reception. One of the farmers pointed out that they spent more time in the Sejm discussing the “morning after” pill than discussing the deteriorating situation of farmers forced to take to the streets.
Dear parliamentarians. Frankly, we are disappointed with what you say (“Bravo” – applause) and especially with what you do. Mrs Leszek, you just said that it is good to come on the spot and learn more about the problem, because it is not true according to the press. What’s something you didn’t know about this problem that you discovered today? But okay, okay. It’s good that you found out today and that you know it now. But I would like to talk about something else, about your work in Parliament, you know what, this is already an insult, I don’t even know what. If yesterday or the day before yesterday in the Sejm you spent half a day talking about the pill after, before, during, I don’t know, and looking at these farmers, then this pill does not apply to most of them. Given your age, this does not apply to most parliamentarians, and you debated it for half a day. And unfortunately maybe an hour or an hour and a half about agriculture
– said the farmer to the Civic Platform parliamentarians who were sitting at the table. Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Czesław Siekierski said at Sunday’s conference that politicians’ visits to protests are a “game”, which he warns against.
Currently, farmers are blocking, among other things: Brzezimierz highway junction on the A4 highway near Oława in Lower Silesia. You cannot drive on or off the highway there.
