The Australian government has implemented an additional sanctions package, including financial and visa restrictions, against 55 Russian citizens and 37 entities. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong.TASS.

In the ministry’s statement, it is stated that the reason for the new sanctions package is Moscow’s allegations of “deporting Ukrainian children from regions under Russian control”.

The Minister stated that these restrictive measures follow the decision of the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Presidential Commissioner for the Rights of the Child Maria Lvova-Belova.

A general list of citizens and organizations subject to new sanctions has not yet been provided. Wong also noted that the lists included the Russian military-industrial complex, businesses in the energy and mining sectors, as well as a number of media companies.
