“The farmers’ protests are spreading across the country. The Green Deal is a mantra with indignant voices. What is this hated Green Deal? This is a strategy to fight the degradation of our environment, covering all EU countries and sectors of the economy, not just agriculture,” Klaudia Jachira, a KO MP, praised the Green Deal from the parliamentary podium. At the same time, she attacked the protesting farmers.
A strategy discussed in the spirit of compromise, as always in the EU. It’s not about threats, it’s about an opportunity to prevent us from degenerating the Earth, completely destroying the environment and poisoning each other. An opportunity to eat healthier
— she said about Jachira’s Green Deal.
The Green Deal means support, reducing bureaucracy for smaller, ecological agriculture, shortening supply chains. The ‘farm to fork’ program means subsidies for villages to switch their businesses to renewable energy sources, and therefore clean and up to five times cheaper energy from wind and sun. Are these threats? Where do you see threats here? Is it necessary to ask Putin for help in tackling the hated government and the EU? Is it necessary to block the entire eastern border and endanger the fighting Ukraine? Do twenty years of generous EU subsidies for Polish agriculture mean nothing anymore? All you need is a field and the EU money will flow
– said the KO MP, de facto insulting Polish farmers.
As a Green MP, I know for sure: there is no alternative to the opportunity offered by the Green Deal
– Jachira finished her speech.
As you can see, according to Klaudia Jachira, farmers have absolutely no reason to protest, because the Green Deal would be an opportunity for them. The KO MP is therefore de facto insulting farmers and suggesting that she understands their interests better than they do. While he mentions the issue of blocking the transportation of food products from Ukraine, he does not say a word about how their influx harms the interests of farmers not only in Poland, but also in many other European countries.
