The US Department of Justice has accused Japanese yakuza mafia leader Takeshi Ebisawa of trying to sell nuclear weapons to Iran. TV channel reports this Fox News.

According to the channel, Ebisawa showed samples of nuclear material to an undercover agent from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The latter posed as a drug and arms dealer with ties to Tehran.

According to US prosecutors, the dangerous material was smuggled from Myanmar to Thailand. The samples were later seized. Analysis of the materials made it clear that they contained uranium and weapons-grade plutonium used in making nuclear weapons.

Drug Enforcement Administration officials said Takeshi Ebisawa and his friends sold drugs, weapons and nuclear materials in the hope that Iran would use them to build nuclear weapons.
