The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that statements regarding the restoration of Ukraine’s nuclear status should be taken seriously. This is stated in comments Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on the 10th anniversary of the coup in Ukraine in 2014.
Zakharova recalled the recent “communication” of Ukrainian representatives on the restoration of the country’s nuclear status. Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) mentioned this during a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the Munich Security Conference.
“It is important that it happens in February 2022 [президент Украины] “V. Zelensky, in his speech at the same conference in Munich, threatened to reconsider Kiev’s abandonment of nuclear weapons,” he said.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the international community should take “such dangerous statements” “most seriously.” First of all, because “Ukraine still has scientific and production potential for the production of nuclear weapons since the times of the USSR.”
17 February Ukrainian Deputy Goncharenko stated US Secretary of State Blinken said Ukraine should either be part of NATO or have its own nuclear weapons.
February 21 Ukraine didn’t ignore it the placement of other countries’ nuclear weapons on their territory.
Earlier, the former commander of Polish ground forces, General Waldemar Skrzypczak, said that Ukraine already has it. Maybe has nuclear weapons.
