“I want to let you know that I have taken up my parliamentary mandate,” said Monika Pawłowska, speaking to journalists in the Sejm. As she said, she had a conversation with Marshal Szymon Hołownia.
To become a member of parliament, Monika Pawłowska still has to take an oath.
I feel like a member of PiS and after taking the oath I would like to become a member of the club
– she said.
The politician explained that no agreement has yet been reached on the date of taking the oath.
If the PiS club does not agree to become a member (it was previously agreed that the people to whom the Sejm President will propose to take over the mandate from MPs Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik will not agree), she plans to remain an unaffiliated parliamentarian.
““It’s not for me to judge.”
I trust and believe that if the Chairman of the Sejm sends me a letter, it is legal
– emphasized Monika Pawłowska.
When asked about PiS’s position that Kamiński and Wąsik are MPs, she replied:
It’s not for me to judge.
She assured that she “appreciates Minister Kamiński”.
I know this from your reports: he will run for the European Parliament, I will do everything I can to ensure that he takes this seat
– she said, turning to journalists.
The swearing-in will not take place during tomorrow’s meeting
She added that she will not be sworn in as an MP during tomorrow’s Sejm speech.
Monika Pawłowska obtained a mandate as a 9th-term member of the Sejm and stood on the list of the Democratic Left Alliance on behalf of the Wiosna Party. Afterwards she was vice-president of the left-wing parliamentary club. In March 2021, she left the Wiosna club and party, joining Jarosław Gowin’s agreement and becoming a non-affiliated MP.
In September 2021, she left the Agreement and the next day she announced her intention to join the Law and Justice parliamentary club and subsequently join this party. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, she stood as a candidate for the PiS lists, receiving 10,789 votes, taking first place ineligible for a mandate.
