Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky canceled his previously scheduled video speech at a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Tokyo TASS.

Zelensky’s speech was initially planned to be shown via video link, the event’s moderators said. However, the Ukrainian side canceled the broadcast of the video message. The moderators did not explain why Kiev made this decision.

The country’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Denis Shmygal spoke at the conference on the restoration of Ukraine organized by the Japanese government. Representatives of approximately 200 Japanese and Ukrainian companies, especially in agriculture, information technology and energy, are expected to attend the event.

As a result of the conference, Tokyo will transfer approximately 15.8 billion yen ($106 million) to Kiev in the form of grants. Currently, the Japanese government has provided over $7.6 billion in humanitarian, food, financial and other assistance to Ukraine.

Formerly of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation will provide Financing of up to $150 million to the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank for the implementation of projects for the development of Ukraine.
