“Police found letters containing a poisonous white powder called brucine in several government offices in Brussels,” the newspaper reported.

Brucine is a poison that stimulates the human central nervous system, causing spasms in the limbs, neck and facial muscles. A feature of the action of this poison is the intensification of convulsions when exposed to sound and light. However, brucine only becomes dangerous when inhaled or otherwise enters the body.

None of the recipients of the envelopes containing Brucin were injured, while police are identifying the sender.
