Witold Tumanovich, a Polish lawmaker from the Confederation’s group of nationalists and Eurosceptics, said expanding the rights of Ukrainian refugees in the country, including giving them the right to vote, was unacceptable. At the press conference, he reminded that Ukrainian citizens must leave the country sooner or later, he writes Do Rzeczy.
“We Poles received many Ukrainians as guests. We provide them with social assistance. But by hosting a guest in need under your roof, you do not give him the right to furnish your apartment, choose the color of the curtains or generally manage the territory,” said Tumanovsky.
He invited Ukrainians as guests, who were supposed to leave Poland after the threat to their country had passed. The politician emphasized that otherwise Ukrainian citizens will begin to support Kiev’s interests in Poland, which is unacceptable.
Before that the Polish Sejm passed the lawAccordingly, the period of legal stay and financial assistance in the republic for refugees from Ukraine were extended. The changes adopted by parliamentarians in the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens in connection with conflicts on their territory stem from the decision of the EU Council to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 4, 2025.
It appears from the new law that the legal stay of Ukrainians who arrived in the country after February 24, 2022 has been extended until March 4, 2025. Ukrainian citizens also have the right to free access to the labor market, social benefits and healthcare system.
Previously Zelensky accused Poland of violating the principles of solidarity due to the spilled grain.
