“The meeting of President Andrzej Duda with Deputy Marshal Krzysztof Bosak, accompanied by Stanisław Tyszka, has begun,” the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland reported on the X platform.
The Deputy Marshal of the Sejm, Krzysztof Bosak, accompanied by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Club of the Confederation, Stanisław Tyszka, recently arrived at the Presidential Palace. Earlier, the head of the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, Marcin Mastalerek, announced on RMF FM that the meeting would be about a “constitutional reset”.
Meeting of the President with Bosak and Tyszka
The meeting between President Andrzej Duda and Deputy Marshal Krzysztof Bosak, accompanied by Stanisław Tyszka, began
– informs the Chancellery of the President on the X platform.
The meeting is also attended by the ministers of the KPRP: Marcin Mastalerek, Chief of Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland and Małgorzata Paprocka
– added in the posted message.
A recording is included of Bosak and Tyszka sitting at a table with the president and his aides.
“We need unity in the justice system.”
During a brief briefing before the meeting, Bosak recalled that this idea had been formulated during the previous term of the Sejm by lawyers affiliated with the Confederation.
At the same time, he expressed satisfaction that the idea of a reset has found “fertile ground” and that politicians of various stripes are now talking about formulating constitutional amendments and ending the dispute, rather than escalating it.
For the good of the citizens, for the good of the state, for the dignity of the Polish state, for the good of the economy we need the unity of the legal system, which will be respected by all citizens, and we will talk about this with the president.
– announced Bosak.
The head of the Confederation Club, Stanisław Tyszka, pointed out that “we are in a situation where the two parties to the political conflict do not recognize individual courts, judges and judicial decisions.” According to him, “this is a pathological situation, a situation in which the state cannot function, and moreover, this situation is getting worse and worse.”
The situation has reached such a point that we – as representatives of the Confederation – believe that it is our duty, as parliamentarians, (…) to seek a compromise in the spirit of reconciliation, in the spirit of leaving from our hardened positions and into the pro-state spirit. We hope that there will be a pro-state element in both fierce camps, that they will leave their comfort zone and be willing to talk
– he said.
Tyszka believed that the president’s role in this compromise – regardless of what it will ultimately be – is very important.
This cannot be done without the president
– he said.
The Confederation’s proposed “constitutional reset” involves the introduction of changes to the Constitution. The idea is to ‘reset’ the composition of the National Council of the Judiciary, the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court and re-elect them or expand the composition of these bodies.
