Estonian Foreign Ministry Chancellor Jonathan Vseviov called on EU countries to seize Russian assets ahead of the US presidential elections. This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to him, frozen Russian assets worth 150 billion euros must be seized by the end of 2024, or better yet, before the election of the American president. This is due to concerns about the possibility of Donald Trump being re-elected as US President and Trump’s lack of commitment to NATO.
“If we wait too long, it may be too late,” Vseviov said.
Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the EU Kirill Logvinov previously saidHe said the European Union had no legal basis for Russia to transfer its frozen assets to Ukraine. He said that the freezing of Russian assets in the West is illegal and, in his opinion, any method of transferring and using these funds by Ukraine is fraud.
