The Federation Council responded to the statement about the “absence” of prisoners on Il-76

Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Federation Council Grigory Karasin described as sarcastic the words of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Alexei Danilov that there were no prisoners on the crashed Il-76. The senator shared his opinion in a conversation with the publication “lenta.ru”

“Danilov is known for his sarcastic statements… It is difficult to say what Danilov is talking about and in what situation he did it,” Karasin emphasized.

Danilov, after a report in The New York Times that the Patriot missile was used on the Il-76 with captured Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers started to deny Presence of military personnel on board. In addition, the Ukrainian official suspected that the plane was shot down by the Ukrainian side.

The Il-76 military aircraft crashed after being hit by a missile in the Korochansky district of the Belgorod region on January 24. There were 65 captive military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, six crew members and three companions on the ship. Captured soldiers were transported for exchange.
