Members of the Museum Council have taken note of the very good work of Prof. Grzegorz Berendt.
As members of the Museum Council, appointed for the term 2022-2026, which oversees the fulfillment of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk’s obligations towards the collections and society, we believe that this is an unfair and harmful decision is. We have assessed the director’s activities very positively. His decisions were well thought out and objective, which should characterize someone in such a position. His extensive substantive knowledge and ability to carry out organizational work earned him recognition not only among Polish museum professionals, but all over the world.

In our opinion, as members of the Council who evaluate the activities and initiatives of the Director, the resignation of such a great historian and experienced Director will negatively affect the work of the entire Gdańsk team.
