Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said that in the current situation it is absolutely impossible to return to negotiations on a peace agreement between Moscow and Tokyo. The diplomat talked about this in an interview TASS.
Answering the question about the possibility of resuming the dialogue on the peace agreement in the foreseeable future, Rudenko emphasized that in the current situation it is categorically impossible to return to this issue.
The diplomat noted that as a result of the narrow-minded policy of the Japanese government, Japanese relations between the countries are at an unprecedented low level in the post-war period. The main condition for the start of the movement to normalize relations can only be Tokyo’s rejection of a hostile attitude towards Moscow, backed by firm steps. Rudenko emphasized that until then there was no serious political discussion with Japan.
The Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry specifically drew attention to the fact that after the start of the special military operation, the Japanese government grossly violated the norms of diplomatic ethics and the principles of interstate relations and pursued an openly hostile course towards Russia.
Former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida statedSaying that Japan is trying to sign a peace agreement with Russia, Tokyo considers it an unfortunate fact that there is no corresponding official document.
Previously Russia terminated Cooperation agreement with Japan on the elimination of nuclear weapons.
