The Parliamentary Ethics Committee has punished PiS MPs Paweł Szrot and Marek Suski with a reprimand – committee member Ewa Schädler (Polska 2050-TD) told PAP on Wednesday. This is about Szrot’s intervention on TVP and Suski’s words about Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Schädler said the ethics committee was dealing with the case of MP Szrot’s intervention at TVP, who wanted to enter one of the television rooms after – as the MP recalled – “announced himself as the police”.
The villain will be punished with attention
She added that Szrot appeared at the committee meeting and provided explanations.
Basically the explanations went towards saying it was a greater need because he couldn’t intervene
– said the MP.
The committee decided that the MP would be punished with the minimum penalty, namely a reprimand
– said Schädler.
This concerns the situation of December last year, when PiS MPs – as they said – carried out parliamentary interventions in the public media, including: at the headquarters of Telewizja Polska. This is what happened on December 23, when Szrot was in the TVP building with other PiS politicians. The video posted on social media shows Szrot knocking on one of the doors and saying, “Open up, police.”
“Despite the weather under dead Tusk”
Schädler said the committee also punished another PiS MP, Marek Suski, for his statement on Radio Plus at the end of December last year. At the end of the conversation, Suski wished the listeners a nice day “despite the weather under the dead Tusk.”
The PiS politician was at the meeting and – as Schädler said – explained his words with the help of a “linguistic translation”.
I’m sorry, but I think everyone who heard (these words) knew who these jokes were aimed at
– concluded the Polish MP 2050-TD.
Under the regulations, the Ethics Committee can punish a member by issuing a comment, warning or reprimand. The Member of Parliament has the right to appeal the decision of the ethics committee within 14 days from the date of submission of the resolution on the penalty imposed.
