The first meeting of the parliamentary investigative committee on operational and reconnaissance activities using Pegasus will take place on February 19, said the head of the committee, Magdalena Sroka (PSL-TD).
She said she had asked the Internal Security Agency to give every member of the committee access to top secret material.
We decided that the meeting would take place on February 19th. As chairman of the committee, I have asked Homeland Security to provide training for every member of the committee, including counterintelligence training. We will be working with very sensitive data, so I hope that by the time of the first substantive meeting of the committee, everyone will have completed this training.
– Sroka said at a press conference in the Sejm.
Top secret materials
She said she had also asked the Internal Security Agency to give each member of the committee access to top secret material.
This control will take time, and that is why we need this time too
– noted the MP.
We are dealing with a very sensitive issue, we approach it very substantively and we invite you to our first committee meeting
– she said.
Evidence requests
Another committee member, Marcin Bosacki (KO), said evidence requests would be submitted at the February 19 meeting.
Any MP will be able to submit these, both requests to state institutions (…) and requests for evidence on who to question before the committee. I do not want to prejudge who will be questioned and when, but we can assure you that we will invite to the committee anyone who could have influenced the fact that spy software was used in Poland against opponents of the previous government, which will only be used against terrorists or the perpetrators of the greatest crimes
– said Bosacki.
He added that “the most serious PiS politicians will certainly have to answer before the committee and tell (…) how Pegasus was bought, for what money it was done, here (is) the role of (former) minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro and why in Poland this spyware, this cybernetic weapon, was used against the political opposition.”
I wonder whether the investigative committee will put forward concrete statements in the Pegasus case, if the chairman does not yet know who will be questioned.
