The post-election inquiry committee resumed its meeting after the break at around 4:30 p.m. At one point, the chairman, MP Dariusz Joński, began to ‘interrogate’ one of the committee members: Paweł Jabłoński, PiS MP and former deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From the content of one of the cited emails, Joński deduced that today’s witness – former head of Prime Minister Michał Dworczyk’s Chancellery – should have consulted with MP Jabłoński to “erase the evidence of responsibility”.
When the committee resumed its work after the break, chairman Dariusz Joński asked the witness a surprising question.
Since we are constantly receiving new emails, I would like to ask the witness if he knows Mr Paweł Jabłoński?
– he asked, obviously referring to the former deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, currently a PiS parliamentarian, also a member of the postal election investigative committee and present at the meeting.
I know Mr Paweł Jabłoński. He’s in this room
– replied MP Michał Dworczyk, a little surprised and amused.
Who is Mr Paweł Jabłoński?
– continued the chairman.
Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland
– replied the witness.
The chairman reads the email
I would like to quote a specific email. May 13, 2020, wrote Mr. Mariusz Haładyj. I would like to let you know right away that this did not come from a Russian mailbox, it was not stolen by hackers, it was written from the Public Prosecution Service to Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki on May 13 at 12:10 PM.
– Joński noted, reading a message from Mariusz Haładyj from the Public Prosecution Service.
This is the first email I read as Mr Mariusz Haładyj advises Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on how to “mitigate” some of the risks associated with issuing the decision. It was at 12 o’clock, on the same day, May 13, that you replied from your e-mail box in the domain gov.pl that, among other things, it had been consulted yesterday. with Paweł Jabłoński and Magdalena Przybysz
– continues the chairman.
“Tomorrow we will have a recommendation on whether to end or repeal the ban. Good to close this place tomorrow. Tomorrow morning you will have your decision ready.” Signed by Michaël
– quoted Joński.
It’s me
– Dworczyk replied with a smile.
The chairman of the investigative committee then read out Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s response.
Was it Mr Paweł Jabłoński who consulted you about the withdrawal of the decision?
– asked Joński.
It is possible that the minister, now MP, Paweł Jabłoński, was consulted on what to do with the decision in a situation where the elections did not take place. Because it’s an email, as I understand it, from May 13, and this decision was still pending?
– asked Dworczyk, and after receiving an affirmative answer and asking if he often consulted Paweł Jabłoński about elections, he replied:
I admit that I did not even remember such an exchange of letters.
To Joński’s response that he could show him the printed messages, the witness replied:
I believe you because I assume that since you instructed the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office to seize the mailboxes of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery or to confiscate the contents of the mailboxes, I assume that the correspondence from comes from a legal source.
So what are you interested in?
– asked Dworczyk.
Jabłoński: Am I currently being interrogated?
Does MP Paweł Jabłoński confirm that he consulted the annulment of the decision with witness Dworczyk?
– Chairman Joński asked the PiS MP who was on the committee.
Mr. President, am I currently being questioned by you?
– asked Paweł Jabłoński, without hiding his amusement
He also noted that he could not remember this type of email correspondence.
As the Member of Parliament knows, the Commissions of Inquiry Act precisely regulates that persons who have participated in any way in the procedure on the subject of the committee cannot sit on it.
– said Dariusz Joński.
The chairman also tried to “ironize” about the “pandemic of amnesia” among representatives of the previous government.
However, you will admit that if you ask witness Michał Dworczyk today about the topics on which you advised him when it comes to the choice of envelopes, you will admit that you are in a rather awkward situation and that you involve us in it .
– emphasized the head of the investigative committee.
Dariusz Joński also stated that he would “have to ask his advisors for advice” on whether Paweł Jabłoński could sit on this investigative committee.
MP Jabłoński drew attention to the date of the email correspondence.
If it is as you say, it applies to events after May 10, which is not within the scope of the committee’s work itself. Moreover, in fact, all the people who were in the government or the Sejm at the time took part in this process, including you, sir.
– said the PiS parliamentarian.
“New official emails may shed new light
Dariusz Joński also published a “sensational” message on his profile on the X platform.
Did MP Jabłoński consult Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Dworczyk in May 2020 – how can we blur the evidence of responsibility? New official emails between PiS politicians could shed new light on who is responsible for the attempt to hold elections during a pandemic and the massive mismanagement.
Does MP Joński not know the duration of the work of the committee he heads? More and more interesting!
