Donald Tusk has already accustomed the Poles to throwing words to the wind. This time it turned out that his ‘Good Thursday’ on February 1 – when ‘Wiktor Orban could be ‘convinced’ and Daniel Obajtek could be fired’ – was not quite right. The Hungarian government will not open its borders to Ukrainian grain. Moreover, Germany itself stood in the way of paying Ukraine the money agreed in Brussels. “How come? After all, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that it was done, he even bragged about the photos… – former deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński commented on this situation on Platform X.
It should have been so beautiful!
Donald Tusk announced that he had a “good Thursday” after the European Council summit, which agreed on financial support worth 50 billion euros to Ukraine.
Viktor Orban could be ‘convinced’, Daniel Obajtek could be fired.
— Tusk was happy on the X platform and announced that he played an important role in it.

When it comes to the first “success” – the Prime Minister’s Chancellery forcefully published photos of the Polish Prime Minister, who fought for money for Ukraine and took part in a working meeting before the European Council summit – on an equal footing with Ursula von der Leyen, Charles Michel, Olaf Sholz, Emmanuel Macron and others.
After the meeting, Viktor Orban is said to have agreed to everything, including: Tusk dictated. However, only a few days have passed since the RE summit, and it turned out that this is not so obvious.
Hungary’s borders to Ukrainian grain are still closed
Although Orbán agreed to transfer the aforementioned 50 billion euros to Ukraine, the Hungarian government will not open its borders to Ukrainian grain until a common European solution is found to limit the inflow of agricultural products from Ukraine.
The European Commission has proposed extending the suspension of tariffs and quotas on imports from Ukraine to the EU for another year and a temporary derogation from the provisions of the Common Agricultural Policy for EU farmers until 2024. However, Orban decided to listen to protesting farmers in Brussels who demanded that Poles, Slovaks and Hungarians block or stop Ukrainian deliveries at their borders.
The Hungarian government’s decision was announced on February 4 by Hungarian Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy in an interview for Radio Kossuth. According to him, European agriculture is “steeped in green ideologies” and farmers cannot count on protection of their markets against imports, especially from Ukraine.

The money will not flow to Kiev for a while
For this year, Ukraine is safe in terms of our financial support: 18 billion euros must be paid. No decision or decree will change this. Fortunately, this aid will reach Ukraine in the coming months
– Prime Minister Tusk announced this triumphantly in Brussels
And it would be nice if Germany itself were not directly affected by the results of the European Council summit, to which Tusk would like to make an excellent contribution. Tomasz Wróblewski, president of the Warsaw Enterprise Institute, wrote briefly about it on the X platform.
Hungarian resistance to the payment of 50 billion euros to Ukraine has hardly been overcome, and Germany is already standing in the way. Berlin is facing significant budget constraints after the Constitutional Court ruling and is playing for time. He demands that the value of the weapons he supplies to Kiev be included in his share of the fund. If all countries did this, the fund would be drastically reduced. There would be little left of it. Even more so because the US, the largest arms supplier, still needs congressional approval for new military aid
– writes Wróblewski.
Until an agreement is reached with Germany, the money will not flow to Kiev
– points out.
How come? Finally, Prime Minister Donal Tusk said it was done.
The whole situation was expertly and wittily commented on by PiS MP Paweł Jabłoński.
How come? After all, Prime Minister @donaldtusk said it was done, he even bragged about photos of him and Scholz “sitting at the same table”…
– wrote on the X platform.
Well, Mr. Prime Minister. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work
